Если все сделано по статье, то в адресной строке вводите localhost/phpmyadmin

Проверьте в httpd.conf строку:
DirectoryIndex index.html index.htm index.shtml index.php

Туда Apache никак нельзя устанавливать. Очень советую поставить Apache строго по статье, иначе очень сложно будет заставить его работать как надо.

когда захожу в index.php все работает без проблем

сегодня уже и при нажатии на index.php открывается пустая страница
виртуальный хост был создан conf/extra/httpd-vhost.conf:

добавил в файл httpd.conf :

</VirtualHost>
стал входить из адресной строки localhost/phpMyAdmin все в тотже каталог,т.е. прблема с автозапуском админа не решилась
при запуске и остановке файлов start-webserver.bat b stop-webserver.bat файл hosts перезаписывается

сделал ка написано,перезапустил apache:
ошибка Not Found The requested URL /phpMyAdmin was not found on this server
мой httpd:

раскомментировал,при вводе стоки localhost/phpMyAdmin загружается пустая страница, когда в адрессную добавляю index.php то админ стартует.
апач ставил из apache_2.0.50-win32-x86-no_ssl.exe
